A Memory Sacrificed to the Cold

Written By: Mitchel V. Partonius

A Memory Sacrificed to the Cold

His face was that of a statue’s; cold and unblinking, forever expressing the same emotion and attitude. The only difference was that he was encased in a frozen wall, not a stone landmark standing proud and tall on its own. Rather, he took on a look of shock and fear. I tried to believe he was still alive, that he was consciously looking at me, as if signalling for me to help. However, there was no way for me to help now; his fish-eyed, blank stare that pierced through my body was unmistakeable. Death was brought upon him. Unlike most statues, his eternally preserved monument was not seen and admired by the public eye, but lost within a deserted ship in the depths of the cosmos. Mitchel Q. Partonius, your memory and everything you lived for will not be forgotten. Not by me.
